24 hr race in spokane- this kid has the right bike
That young man is rocking it D.U.I. style. (see also urbandictionary.com)
Update: More info from our Mr. Ben T.
I talked to him at 6 in the morning up a half mile shit hole hill talking a bunch of jibberish. He ended up wanting to know where the hell my pump track is. Fucking rad shit, bike culture is beyond anything else in this world. I talked shit to a crack head tonight with a knife, he was actually a really nice cat and wanted me to come over for some tasty food he had in the fridge, I declined due to the track marks and twitching a little too much. Shit, Spokane Wa. is hands down keeping it real for anyone that chooses to move here like myself. lesson learned, crack heads like to talk a lot and meth heads like to steel a lot.
That’s the dude I want heading out for my team when it’s my lap to nap.
this kid will come to AZ in Feb, and be my duo partner at next years 24hrs in the Old Pueblo. This must happen.
It’s not that hard to set a bike up so it actually fits you without all that gawdawful fugly-assed jiggery-pokery. Riser bars, anyone? Technomic stem, even.
Bueller? Bueller?
i loved the link to that chick bj. nice.
He was part of the hobo camp that was right behind us… they won for best camp and I’m pretty sure their captain was pretty tanked when he got up to accept their prize. All their bikes were old rigid bikes. I don’t know about the nice lights… I think they should’ve gone all out with taped up old flashlights or something.
Alright lighting is basic. If you’re gonna go, go all out. The ill-fitted frame and the loose fitting helmet? Bethcha I can guess what’s in that fanny pack!
So pardon the ignorance b.j. what does DUI stand for anyway? Certainly not “pushing under the influence?”
You know an odd feeling? Sitting on the toilet eating a chocolate candy bar.
@Turkey: Driving Under the Influence. The bars are named thus as they (along with their modern cousin the straight up mtb bar ends) are typically seen on bikes owned by drunks who are no longer afforded the privilege of motor vehicle operation. See also: repeat offender bars.
The flipped drop setup is usually paired with a milk crate. I worked at a shop with a pretty steady can-collecting clientele, so I got to flip a few bars in my time.
@art: Thanks.
takes a lot of balls to show up riding something not tech
and with clothes that don’t wick moisture in a race were everyone is decked out
and even more balls to follow thru and race it
i applaud the kid/guy
good for you!
