It never stops.
More than 300 people wheeled and flip-flopped onto the CSU Oval on Friday to remember Rebecca Allen, an avid cyclist who was struck by a car and killed while riding early Tuesday morning.
Allen, 32, was an undergraduate administrator at the Colorado State University Department of Journalism and Technical Communication.
Because she got married while wearing flip-flops and wore a necklace with a pair of flip-flops hanging from it, Allen’s family asked mourners to come similarly attired.
…The man accused of hitting Allen, Daniel Price, 20, has been charged with vehicular homicide and is due to be advised of the charges against him Tuesday afternoon.
Police say Price was drunk when he struck Allen and 36-year-old Jennifer Garvey, who was riding with Allen, from behind while they rode in the bike lane near the intersection of West Drake Road and Moore Lane. Price was booked and released on Thursday.
Allen’s family has pointed out that she was wearing a helmet and high-visibility clothing, and was riding legally in the bike lane when hit.
