Live on Letterman

I’ve got grit under my fingernails and my hands smell of fork grease. I’ve been in the garage. Rebuild a rear wheel for my Fondriest, played with an old Manitou, changed the brake around on my Voodoo Scorcher. I’ve been a busy boy.

As I sat and ate lunch, I fired up the laptop and started listening to music. Somehow ended up on Youtube and somehow ended up noticing the literally thousands of kick ass vids from appearances from a multitude of artists on Late Night with David Letterman. Some of these performances rock it.

Figured, hell, might as well share a few. In no particular order, may I present to you: Lunch With Big Jonny – A Musical Offering of Peace and Prosperity. Ok, forget that last part. Too hippy-dippy-hugs-n-sunshine. Let’s try this: Crank Open A #10 Can of Whoop-ASS! Nah, too gay-redneck-in-denail. Fuck it. Just click and enjoy.

At The Drive-In – One Armed Scissor

The Mars Volta – Wax Simulacra

Update: I didn’t realize till I looked at this post on the front end of things hours later that I had, somehow, overlooked including this gem. Forgive me, sweet jesus.

That Deftones video is awesome. I saw them play with Quicksand about a million years ago.. Aside from my AMIGOs, they’re just about the only thing good to ever come out of Sacramento.

Queens are fucking TIGHT live…saw them open for Chili Peppers a few years back…they are precise like Helmet…like pushin’ PLAY on the stereo…

Dig Dave Letterman…best thing to come outta Ball State University…

I don’t think FGG has copyrighted this yet, so “Hell Yes!”, thanks for the ass kickin start to the day.

At The Drive In was one of my favorites. I was pretty glad when I realized that their demise would lead to two more amazing bands.

I wish I could go back to the show that I saw them play with Jimmy Eat World in a hole in the wall in Winston-Salem 10 years ago.

    Those were the days.

I’ve had Tokyo Police Club on regular iPod rotation for about a year. I have The Fratellis on the same playlist – great for running.

Give Oppenheimer a look if you haven’t. I saw them open for TMBG last year. Very odd duo from Belfast. Poppy electronica, ELO meets OMD – has a futuristic 80’s feel – they make a lot of sound for two guys. Sounds best on headphones – the music’s very busy.

Gotta admit I love the tune Liam Finn did on Letterman -
