SSAZ

SSAZ 2026 – January 31st – Tumacacori, AZ

Registration is closed.

Our wonderful hosts and SSAZ World Headquarters for the weekend:

Schedule or Events!

Thursday 1/29 – 3:30pm – Group Ride/Sunset Cruise leaving from Patagonia Bikes in Patagonia, AZ. This little town is a Gateway community for the Arizona Trail and surrounded with great riding.

Patagonia Bikes will be leading a sunset ride for all the early arrivals. We will provide some beverages post-ride and there are two great bars in town to afterparty. Tons of primitive camping near-ish to town and also a couple hotels. We would encourage you to spend the night and enjoy the trails on Friday morning. We can give some ride suggestions for anyone who wants them.

Friday 1/30 – We recommend descending upon Abe’s Old Tumacocori Bar around 5pm for Happy Hour. There will be some live music, parking lot chillin, rumors are surfacing about a DJ dance party(not Dejay) and other singlespeedy stuff.

Rider meeting will be at 7pm

Saturday 1/31 – Group ride and family reunion. As in years past, this can’t be stated enough that THIS IS NOT A RACE. It will be a challenging yet beautiful ride through canyons and across ridges. We think you will enjoy it.

  • Party ride! ~ The loop starts from Abe’s, and we suggest rolling early. No later than 10am since we’d like everyone to finish well before sundown.
  • Climbs, rocks, comfort station, general horseplay. You know the drill.
  • Feel free to swing by your camp or hotel before ending your day back at Abe’s. Aim to get back to the bar before sundown please (5:58pm).
  • Sign in at Abe’s when you finish for swag, sticker exchange, beer tokens, music, etc.
  • We have a chuck wagon dinner arranged for Saturday evening.

Other Things

We’re requesting that everyone purchase a Recreational Permit from the Arizona State Land Department. A portion of the suggested ride route accesses trails on Arizona State Trust land (and the closest camping). Both the Individual ($15) or Family ($20) permits are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. If you are from Arizona, you should probably have one anyway. If you are from out of state, we appreciate your contribution to the conservation of our state lands. If anything, it will make the conversation much shorter if you should happen to run into a game warden.

Here is a link to the permit form.

Where to stay

As noted in the IG and DC posts, there is no official campsite or organized lodging.

The area is surrounded by Coronado National Forest and Arizona State Trust Land. There are plentiful camping options within riding distance of the party.

Check out the USFS interactive map to see the forest boundaries.

*And no, you cannot “camp” at the bar. The owners of Abe’s live on the property, and we will not fuck with their welcoming nature.
