Did you ever see The Doors movie? There is that creepy scene where Jim meets Andy Warhol. Andy has a gold phone and says he can use it to talk to god. But he doesn’t have anything to say, so he gives it to Jim.
I’ve been feeling a lot like that lately. Ya see, I think about this old yellow website just about every day. I think about how much it’s changed my life and all the people I have met because of it. Then I think about how I really should be writing more on here… but I just don’t have anything to say.
The crew is pretty dispersed now. We are all still friends and talk regularly, but we live in different towns. That makes it a bit harder to get together and act a fool. I spend most of my riding time by myself or with my partner and it has been really chill. There have been no big vision quests or epic trail parties lately. That’s fine. It’s been nice chilling out for a while. But that also leaves me with nothing to say. Or more accurately, it leaves me with nothing anybody really wants to read about. You can only tell so many navel-gazing stories about how beautiful the desert light was, or how damn cute baby javelinas are. But I sure can carry on about it at the bar. I have still been shooting a ton of photos, just not many of them revolved around bicycles.
There was some Jello wrestling and pole dancing in town recently. You degenerates would have loved that scene.
There was a little backcountry without a bicycle. Sometimes you gotta do it, to see special places. I wasn’t mad about it.
I ventured out of the Southern Arizona vortex to ride the new trails in Prescott. They are pretty neat. I’m not the biggest fan of machine cut IMBA-abortions. But it’s nice to know there are some mellow jump lines in the state now.
Life is pretty good down here on the Border. But it’s summer furnace is cranking up, and the high country awaits… Maybe I’ll have some more shit to talk about soon.
