The Sunday Spore with D2: The Last Word on Fatties

As promised, here’s a quick video direct from Borealis Fat Bikes headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. You’ve read the reviews, so you know what I think by now. For those who don’t know what I think by now, you can start HERE and HERE. [vimeo]http://vimeo.com/91095681[/vimeo] To recap: Borealis is a cool company with a sick bike. It’s too expensive for the likes of me, but for some of you out there with stronger legs, bigger lungs, and big balls on the race course, the Yampa’s worth your time. It’s sexy as fuck, it rides like a champ, and it’s got a comfortable geometry I haven’t felt on other fatties.

The rest of us? Let’s pull a steel frame junker out of the dumpster and go get drunk.

Check out the longer, more in-depth video from Borealis HERE.

Stay tuned for 40 Hands’ review of the 9Zero7 fat bike, too.

D2 out.

  1. Good question. Never ran that set-up. My guess is it would be about the same, except better in corners.

  2. Remember that one time at Enduro Camp? When we rolled a fatty? That was AWESOME. Wait, what thread is this? Dang.

  3. I’m shocked-SHOCKED, I tells ya-that in all this talk of “fatties”, nae a single one o’ yea has posted a photo of a wench whose adipose tissue resembled an Imperial fucktonne of chewed bubblegum. Is there nea a single chubbie chaser among yea?

  4. I have a Pugsley with a Lefty on it, in the winter I run 80mm rims, but come summer, I love putting the 65mm rims on with 3.8″ tires. Turns it from the “bike that gets me thru the winter” into a playful thing. It isn’t a substitute for my main summer trail bike, but I love having it nonetheless. I went a year without one and was bummed I sold the first one. Dropper post goes on it this week. Wiiiide handlebars, it likes to get rad.
