Everybody 1, 2, 3, “Fuck USAC!”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, USA Cycling is fucking bullshit and you don’t need them. Our friend Barry tells the same story in a more politically correct manner, but who the hell comes to DC to read politely mannered blogposts anyways? Caveman doesn’t. Watch this interview (click the picture), then continue.

Barry spreads his legs for us and tells it how it is.

Here’s what they had to say over at Cyclingdirt:

According to UCI’s rule 1.2.019 states, “No license holder may participate in an event that has not been included on a national, continental or world calendar or that has not been recognized by a national federation, a continental confederation or the UCI”.  The section goes on to say that, “Breaches of articles 1.2.019 or 1.2.020 shall render the license holder liable to one month’s suspension and a fine of 50 to 100 Swiss francs.

“So any member of a UCI Trade Team is not able to compete in any non USA Cycling sanctioned event (Whiskey 50, Rouge Roubaix, Teva Mountain Games, etc..).  Many riders on a UCI Trade Team race non USAC sectioned events for their large prize purses, large exposure and for tuning fitness.

This rule has been loosely enforced by USA Cycling in past seasons. Georgia Gould participated in the Teva Mountain Games while she was training for the London 2012 Olympic Games.  Along with Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, Gould received a letter from USA Cycling officials stating that she was in breach of rule 1.2.019 and that she was being fined 50 Swiss Francs (the lowest fine possible).  The letter went on to say that neither would be suspended since it was their first offense.  Even though Gould had participated in the Teva Mountain Games every year.

About a month ago factory UCI Trade Teams started getting letters saying that USA Cycling would be enforcing rule 1.02.019 for the 2013 season. Rule 1.2.019 also states that, “A national federation may grant special exception for races or particular events run in its own country”.  So, USAC has the ability to allow any rider to participate in an event not sanctioned by USAC without the penalty of being fined or suspended.  From what we have discovered USAC is the only governing body that chooses to enforce this UCI rule.

It seems USA Cycling is pointing the finger and the UCI, and the UCI is pointing the finger back at USA Cycling. It is in USAC’s favor to enforce the rule, because it is a way to leverage promoters to use USAC as the sanctioning body of their event.  USAC has the argument that they offer a better product and anit-doping testing, but according to Barry Wicks, “if you ask the right questions, those arguments are invalid”.  When big names register for an event, a promoter will use that to advertise their event more.  It doesn’t just hurt the promoters, but the athletes as well.  Athletes who are trying to make ends meet and promote their name are being hindered by USA Cycling, a governing body that should be helping the sport grow. http://www.cyclingdirt.org/coverage/250535-Mellow-Johnnys-Classic-Pro-XCT/article/18978-Wicks-is-Calling-USACs-Bluff

As Dirty puts it, it’s like they hired Pat McQuaid. Yep, we all know that douchebag. And speaking of that washed up fat piece of shit, check out the following link because it’s a disturbingly good read:

Fuck you Pat. Scum.
Fuck you scum.
Anyways, all this crap with USA Cycling…

Dirty was on a vacation, riding his bike down near the border, eating worms and evading cougars (not the old and hot female kind), and I got him so riled up on this USAC crap that he pulled over somewhere between Sonoita and Tucson to chat. I’d share pictures of his adventure, but I’m sure you’ll see them all next Tuesday..

Anyways, we talked, and here’s what we came up with.

Basically, if all the pros abide by the “rules” set forth by USAC, that means nobody would race the good races that pay real money. And that’s important because the pros race bikes for a living. Meaning that’s how they feed the engine, thats how they cover the mortgage, thats how they buy their wives new dildos.

If the pros only raced USA Cycling races, they would be living in a van down by the god damn river with a meth habit and a fat ugly whore named Prudence. No kidding.

It’s blatantly clear that the USA Cycling product is of the same quality as a dried-up limp dick and they are only looking out for the best interest of the organization, and not the sport we all love. These days, they can’t seem to get out of their own way. Let the market play it’s course. Eventually, it will all become increasingly obvious and everyone, maybe even roadies, will realize USAC isn’t the boss, and they can’t tell us what to do and what not to do. And they sure as hell will never take my membership dues to ride in their crappy (at best) events. As the presence of non-sanctioned races continues to swell, the less you need that stupid ass fucking plastic piece of shit membership card for 150 dollars annual. Fuck ’em.

Oh, and fuck yeah Barry! We like you long time. You just love riding your bike, and that is clear. You have a posse.

  1. Awesome! So now the Canadian pros can come down to top US races, win easily with zero US competition, get lots of race training, and make lots of money!

  2. Haven’t you got something on the statute books about restrictive practices, freedom of labor, being a wanker or something? Sounds really out of order.

  3. I was a USAC card carrier last year but a look at the races I ride/rode showed me that USAC Sanctioned races were a minority on that list. I then looked at the folks who were banned from racing from the previous year and the majority of them were those with HTC in blood stream in lieu of let’s say any PED. Now USAC is going to prevent (supposedly) Pros from riding local or regional badass races that don’t need the phoney stars&stripes banner on the race flyer to get participants. This would not be beneficial to the Pros, to the Local Race Promoters and to the regular old fuckers who love to ride their bike with friends….I love watching Tinker get a top 3 in a Fat Tire Crit on a Friday eve while drinking some local tasty beverages, ride the course on Saturday only to get up on Sunday (too flipping early) and scream my ass off as riders work themselves toward the finish line.

    FUCK USAC

  4. USAC has issues. As a licensed coach I am very disturbed about the lack of investigation into allegations on coaches in the USADA case. All the hype about LA but WTF about Carmichael?
