The 2012 edition of the Tour of Flanders is in the books, I was up at 6:30 to catch the start of the live coverage, I put on a pot of coffee, poured me some hair of the dog, and plopped my fat ass down on the couch to watch. In the end Boom Boom Boonen took his third victory, proving that when you stop using cocaine good things will happen to you. Below are some videos from the race if you missed it.

Start of the women’s edition was all I could find in my quick search on youtube, so if anyone knows where to see more footage please post in the comments. Big congrats to Judith Arndt for taking the win, and also to America’s own Kristen Armstrong (who does crazy offseason workouts like giving birth to a child) on her second place finish. All of these gals are tougher than me, and most of you.

I still don’t understand why the ladies only race 127km (and shorter distances in general). 75% -80% of the men’s distance would be more appropriate, simply reflecting the fact that they are abut 75%-80% of the size. Aren’t they a teeny bit embarrassed to ride less than half the men’s race?
