This is where I’m at these days

But, really, I’m not being entirely truthful about that. I was drinking Jack’n Cokes.

I got out for a ride yesterday. The bike, she waits for me. And for that, I am eternally grateful. Lots of wind in the Valley, and that hurt me a bit. But, I think the time I’ve put behind a desk these last few months hurt more. I’ve grown soft.

I’m meeting the same guys today, zMud and a few of his cohorts. All solid guys with great taste in bikes. They tell me this morning’s route will have something along the line of 4,000 feet of climbing. Great. I’m a couch potato. I do, however, have a 25 tooth on the back. If that fails, I’ll just walk. Anything is better than this god forsaken desk & laptop.

I’m on my third cup of coffee, I’ve already caught up on emails (mostly) and sorted out the pool filter. The eastern sky is just beginning to warm. I’ll think I’ll make the girls pancakes.

It’s the weekend. Get some.

Keep the rubber side down, folks.

About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. Enjoy that ride man.

Been sick as a dog for a week+ and no riding.

    Get some for me.

  2. …the grand commissioner speaks & rides & both activities are good…enjoy, gianni…

…i’m off to the ‘mostly ‘merican gathering of geeks who make their own cool bikes for us to ride & ‘ppreciate’ up in sac-of-excremento, california…

  3. don’t ever not ride again. it tilts the intergalactic balance towards -5. fucks everything up.

  4. I rode both my fixed gears and my Fisher HooKoo today. Nothing epic, and the fixed gears have been a chore since my injury, but I rode. And it was good.

Now I drink. Fresh out of gin and tonic, but vodka and cranberry juice go together like peanut butter and chocolate.

Soon I will sleep. And tomorrow? Perhaps I will let that take care of itself.

  5. “…vodka and cranberry juice…” ?

    That is so gay.

Not that there’s anything wrong…well…you know the deal.

PS: My cold is over. I hope to ride tomorrow. 10 bucks says it snows.

  6. Naw.

I leave that stuff for pufters like you.

I drink only the finest shit.

    Coor Lite.

The mandatory drink of poor white trash through out the land.

  7. Bruichladdich is where i’ve been the last week or so. Lost an hour last night after the Klitscko fight, so time to ride and sweat all the crap out.

I do love my new whip though. Front fork shudder and all.

  8. Big J,

Great to meet to meet you, better to get the chance to ride with you. Hopefully our paths will cross again and if you find yourself in BC, you let me know.

    J

  9. In case anyone doubts it, BJ can still turn over the cranks like a madman, even with a few months off.

    Well done, sir!

  10. I’m just sitting down after making dinner & cleaning up the dishes… wow. My legs feel the last two days! Thanks for the ride guys.

I’d post something if I had taken any photographs. But I was too busy staring at John Spann’s rear wheel!

  11. Gianni has a domestic side. Young ‘uns tend to bring that out in a feller. Nevermind how I know.

Big man, you and yours be well.

  12. @04 +1. Not riding makes the world a sad place. Even if it’s just getting out for a quick ride to the stop and rob. It helps.
