Get your stoke on

So, I was reading the Bikeworks Abuquerque webpage. I’ve never met any of these guys, I’ve never been to the shop, and I don’t know anything about any of ’em. I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon their website.

I sure do like this line about wheel building prices:

Wheel build labor rates are $45 each, $85 pair (increased rates may apply for tubeless rims, and ridiculous lacing patterns with “eye”, “foot” or “twisty” in the name).

Yeah. They seem like my kind of people.

Then I noticed this photo:

I’m sitting at a desk in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s a hundred degrees outside. Man, that looks like some fun about now.

Good on ya, gentlemen. A tip of the pint in your direction.

About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. these guys have emerged as premiere shop in the 505 with only a coupla yrs. in existence, but 4 life times of bike riding and wrenching experience AND they usually have a kegger of local micro brew on tap in the back so i’m sure they’re tipping one back at cha!

  2. When it comes to suspension, they are the shop to visit in the 505. They really try to keep their focus on freeride, downhill, all mountain type of bikes.

  3. Off-topic. Scusi.

Anyone have any recommends for an Iphone bike mount ? Other than duct tape I mean.

  4. @TPC

That’s what you get for putting Steve Miller in there. We saw that and said Fuck No and went to the next comment.

So technically it’s your own fault.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

  5. Trailer Park Cyclist, FFF is right. If you don’t use the word “balls” in your post, none of these guys will read it.

  6. Concur, I skipped a mess of YouTube links in that thread… it lost all relevance after my first Foo Fighters comment.

  7. You made our day Jonny!
We’ve been DC fans since the early days. The random props was so exciting to see this morning!
If you are ever passing through, or coming to ABQ, we’ve got a beer for you (we do always have a keg of something local, hopppy, and delicious on hand), and will show you the best rides around if you’ve got the time (dirt or pavement).
Thanks! Dan, Dan, Tony and Mike

  8. …re: jeb corliss…i’m betting you don’t get a lotta second chances in that activity…

  9. the DC muddlement shows the power of their inner mundanitry time & again. Read it and weap, butches;

  10. Well thanks for thinking I’m butch, dude… and yeah, I’m cranking _Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace_ before I head out for today’s fifty-miler. It may be the last chance to ride the Trophy Bike this year, because the Seattle weather is turning to shit and will stay that way for a looong damn time. Keep the rubber side down, brothers and sisters.
