About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  4. The Cane Creek crew are awesome people. They very graciously hosted myself and a mate for an extended factory / fabrication tour and chat up a few weeks back. (very very impressive stuff) Then brought us along on one of their regular ride n’ beer evenings.
I’ve a blog post on the tour in the works, but taxes and payin’ work have delayed it some.

Anyway, top drawer folks making awesome gear and livin the dream. It gives one hope.

  5. bikesgonewild—If you ever find yourself in the Bull City I owe you a guided tour. Fullsteam is a regular haunt and of course would be part of the shenanigans.

And a belated happy birthday to you!

  6. …@pietrohymasini…i thought that ‘name’ rang a bell…very cool to hear from you through dc, amigo…

    …if drunkcyclist regulars haven’t discovered:
http://www.bobkestrut.com/ you owe it to yourself to check it out…i gotta admit i haven’t followed it in a while but there is always a great read going on at that site…written by a guy who’s spent his time in the peleton & still works within the cycling media…

…thanks for the ‘belated’ & some day i’ll take you up on that ‘bull city’ brew…the last one, as i recall was a quick meal, a red tail ale (prob’ly) & bike talk with a view of the golden gate…

    …props…

  7. …@sevenstars…like ‘kark’ sez, top notch folks (looking forward to your review, kark)…

…cane creeks peter gilbert has shown remarkable resiliency as a long time industry guy by maintaining a simple philosophy along the lines of “hey, this whole mucka, mucka, self important ‘bicycle industry thing’ is really about having fun riding a bike, so get out there, share it with others & enjoy it”, which i echo wholeheartedly…i consider him to be an awesome friend from the past…

…we ‘old guys’ may have lost some of our speed over the years but nobody rides with more joy in their hearts…& dammit, we all still look good doing it…
