It is truly my favorite time of year. God damn, I love me some Classics. This coming weekend brings us both Het Volk (now called Omloop Het Nieuwsblad to be all correct about it) and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. We’re going to see some fire!
In Het Volk (sorry, I just can’t get used to Nieuwsblad) I like Boonen and Pozzato. I think we’re going to see a lot out of that combo over the next month or so. In KBK I like Boonen, Hoste, and Devolder. In that order. Steegmams just got his clock cleaned and I don’t expect him to be 100%. Come April, he’ll be ready. But not now. My dark horse picks are Flecha and Haussler.
What’s the haps in the pro circuit? Who’s hot and who’s not? Our man Pavé is knocking it out over at his site pavepavepave.blogspot.com. He’s been known to drop a gem or two on us here at Drunkcyclist. (You can read through his posts here if you’d like) I hope to see more from him in the future on DC. But, with the massive amount of content he’s putting up on his own site, I’m not holding my breath. I can read it there just as easy as I can read it here.
Haussler a dark horse??? WTF You had better be checking the results son. Put him down for winning Flanders.
Remeber San Remo last year…. Fuck it was like your under a rock or some shit. Fuck pull your head out.
You heard it here first.
Snake
me too…I begin to go all weepy with cobbled dreams…dreams that will be mauled when my lack of fitness and extra ten pounds of flubber say “NYA NYAH NYAHHH!” as i try to ride up the molenberg.
It’s on! Cobbles all day long!

Ok, I get it. I need a Colnago or I’m fucking around.
You guys ever read “A Dog in a Hat” by Joe Parkin? My wife bought it for me and I started it last night…GREAT insight to what the Belgian ideal of cycling really is. Makes you want to gnash some hills…if only I had hills to gnash in IL…. :(.
Snake old buddy, you might be on to something regarding Haussler:
