Bike Bike Touches Down

The annual conference of recycled bike shops/collectives has touched down in Pittsburgh for ’07. Bike Bike is on.

While much of the cycling world sheds a tear for Johan, this group doesn’t give a shit. And they’re healthier for it, as are the communities they all call home.

We’ve got 200+ folks from out of town attending conferences hosted by FreeRide, with three of them crashing at my humble home. Two guys from Austin who hadn’t met each other until touching down here, and another person from Cleveland. In the name of bikes I can put aside the fact that Cleveland is, well, Cleveland. Fuck the Browns, and don’t you forget it.

After a day of idea exchange it was time to watch movies! No $15,000 budget for a film festival here – an extension cord, a projector and a dvd player set up under the bridge works for us. That and a few beers. We’re not New York or LA and thank god for that.

About Brad

Bikes are cool, and I’ve been making a go at this ‘industry’ thing for a while now. You may remember me from some nine years at Dirt Rag Magazine. Or not. Now I do some writing, wrenching and photography to pay the bills. And run my half of a little magazine project called Urban Velo. We love riding in the city. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
