Welcome to the Ghettodrome

I got so much trouble on my mind
I refuse to lose
Here’s your ticket
Hear the drummer get wicked

Welcome to the Ghettodrome

Its really a half mile crit racing track, with a bit of a hump in the middle. And a downhill front stretch. Meaning there’s an uphill finish. But the curves are banked, so its good enough for track racing in steel town. This year someone busted out a ghetto-derny. Holy shit, motorpacing at 30MPH.

Niiiice.

Every other Friday throughout the summer its time to race at the ghettodrome. And by “race” I mean that I donate my $10 to the fast guys. I can barely hang for the parade laps, and then these guys turn it on and leave me picking my nose in corner number three.

Average speed on the 10 lap points races? Just a hair off of 28MPH. Goddamn.

About Brad

Bikes are cool, and I’ve been making a go at this ‘industry’ thing for a while now. You may remember me from some nine years at Dirt Rag Magazine. Or not. Now I do some writing, wrenching and photography to pay the bills. And run my half of a little magazine project called Urban Velo. We love riding in the city. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

  1. I read this as I was getting ready for work at 6 this morning and immedediately played the Ice Grillz 7″ on my iPod. Taste in music = backed.
