Leadville was off the hook this year, with a fallen record and another win (making 5 or 6 consecutive now?) for Wiens. Nice work to them all, including LA, and especially, the DC boys. Rubelt and Juan layed it down in good style:

Yet another reason to wear a helmet…

Yea, either that, or not getting caught by a bear.

One of our cycling advocates here was hit.  Here is a copy of the newspaper article…

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — A bicyclist struck and killed Saturday by a semi-trailer truck on Interstate 90 has been identified as former Bozeman City Commissioner Joe Frost.

Montana Highway Patrol Officer Darlene Lee says the 64-year-old Frost was riding his bike westbound on I-90 when he veered toward the center line, possibly to reach an authorized vehicle turn in the highway median.

Lee says the semi driver, also headed west, tried to avoid Frost but could not.

Lee says it’s unlikely any citations will be issued.

Frost served on the Bozeman City Commission for three terms, from 1990 to 2001.

Bozeman of all places. And a Semi Truck. Sad.

Indeed, a fine steed, and excellent motivator. Death and racing is what it is. Thank god for beer because it is only Monday.

A real bummer for the person who was attacked by the bear, I hope she recovers to ride again. As usual there’s some dumb prick calling for the bears to be thinned out. JFC, where’s your head? If you ride in the bear’s territory, you take your chances. Why not just shoot all the bears and pave the entire place, then it’ll be safe………

As for the bears needing to be thinned out, it’s not a matter of paving the entire place, its a matter of Grizzly overpopulation in a small area.Same thing with hunting buck. There is a designated time to do so, for their own health and safety. If you protect the animals from any danger, they have babies and babies and babies and suddenly they are running out of food sources and competition gets fierce.

Also Im wondering if there has been a problem in the area with people feeding the bears. That always causes trouble. If they know there is an easy food source around, they will always return to it, and a Grizzly isn’t something you want coming back hungry.

Shame about the girl, but yeah… it’s a bit of a catch 22 for this IMHO.

“That area’s getting more and more dangerous with the bears,” he said. “It’s frustrating, because at what point are they going to thin them out?

Dude brah, you’re in Anchorage. Kinda comes with the territory.

Maybe the bears are just trying to “thin out” the human population that is encroaching on their natural habitat IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING NIGHT!

It was a really stupid idea to have an all night race in an area populated by grizzlies. Anyone else agree?
