I was a “C” student and look what it got me. I’d still kick George Bush in the balls for callin’ himself a Mountain Biker; pussy! If I were president you’d see a bit more trail building; like 3 trillion dollars worth…

    Bitch

…(A)- unfortunately, for the country, eight fucking years…
    ***********************************************************************

…sorry…there was no appropriate funny punchline for ‘the little moron’ joke…
…just the cold hard reality of broken trusts, huge mounting debts & a world-wide trail of bodies…guess he really is a C student…

It ain’t the academic credentials, or lack there of.
W’s grandaddy was a senator, with ties to ‘the company’ and Wall street, (very normal, btw, spooks & stock brokers go together)
    McCain’s grandad was an admiral.
The super-elites are small fraternity, and we are being ruled by legacies.
Makes ya wonder why we bothered with rebelling against England in the first place.
Some of my best, earliest teachers held the idea that America is fundamentally anti-intellectual, de Tocqueville too. And don’t forget the tittle of his magnum opus…
    Democracy in America.
Now put your elbow on your knee, and your chin in your hand, and think about that for a while.
No point in getting upset about any of it.
    Learn history and act accordingly.

    …no doubt, dentext, no doubt…

    dentext, et al-

Good points, sir. I would half-disagree, however, that the USA is “anti-intellectual.”

The ENTIRE HUMAN RACE is anti-intellectual. As long as being stoopid doesn’t hurt and is not illegal, we will continue to breed citizens who are dumb as posts. It’s not disease, climate change, poverty or even religion holding the human race back; it’s good, old-fashioned bonehead stupidity. Frank Zappa, who we dearly miss, said it best: “It ain’t getting any smarter out there.”

As for partisan politics, anyone who votes for Barack Obama expecting change will get exactly what he deserves: more of the same.

I fart in your general direction

I have to agree that the “C” student gig was used in way to many times and I dig the hell out of this site but I still have to argue about what it has become and what it used to be…

Shit man, we talked up the Tour this week too! What do you want from me!?!

Just kidding. I hear ya. We ain’t as much fun as we used to be. None of us. And it’s an election year. What the fuck are we supposed to do, try and forget about it?

Obama ain’t half the change he could be. But he leaves the likes of McCain just standing them looking stupid. His (McCain’s) site is pushing “Country First” and “One man knows we must now drill more in America and rescue our family budgets. Don’t hope for more energy, vote for it.”

See the new commercial here: http://www.johnmccain.com/
    And here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EiTpS4MK3D8

Even though McCain actually opposes drilling in ANWAR…

Yeah, it makes sense to me too.

  22. Gnome on July 21st, 2008 5:51 pm

Osama Obama’s website kicks the shit out of McCain’s. He’s going to win just because he has prettier colors. And it’ll be more of the same but with less obvious stupidity.

Fuck, Between McCain and Cadel, I think I’m listening to a panic strick’n school girl, and mother fucking Mickey Mouse.

    Fuck this place.

  23. Winded Old Fart on July 21st, 2008 6:07 pm

I disagree with you Mikey. Obama walks, talks, even flat out looks different then any candidate you could have possibly ever seen. The unspoken bit here is the debt that’s coming due. Which one will try to address it and which one will skirt it with promises of more tax breaks? That’ll be be the difference.

  24. dentext on July 21st, 2008 6:38 pm

The reason the thing gave such a viseral response, in the Tocquevillian view, is that is simply us being us. That’s what makes the short hair stand up.
    More Elvis than Lincoln.
Obama wants to be, more than anyone else, ..Abe.
    And why not?
We are as polarized as at any time since the civil war.
Lincoln is one of the great figures who has an entire view of the country & the constitution. There are any number of works talking about Lincoln’s America.

And no, the entrire species is not anti-intilectual. The global economy will soon put many of us in touch, deeply in touch, with the education systems of those places that value ..ehem …C-students less and a properly trued mind more. (W has shitty rims)

  25. Urban Jeff on July 21st, 2008 7:06 pm

    Ain’t America grand?

  26. Winded Old Fart on July 21st, 2008 7:39 pm

I guess you young un’s might be on to sumpthin here. It could very well be more of the same since Ol Abe was a republican. All’s I know for sure is that a dollar used to mean something in this world.

I don’t know which is more disturbing:

    1) John McCain looks like Hitler
    2) John McCain looks like John Gill, the character who ended up as Hitler in that classic Start Trek episode.
    3) John McCain remembers when ragtime was “New School.” Now THAT’S old school.
