Cavendish calls it good at 4 and doesn’t even show to the start of stage 15.
Pate gets in the mix and comes oh so close to a stage win.
And, poor old Evans… seems he’s getting a bit lonely in the pain cave. Defensive riding blows.
Cadel in pain cave, Vandevelde works tempo.
While Schleck pimps out the extra second and Simon Gerrans is an afterthought.
The Tour. Now Totally Bad Ass:
Six of Garmin-Chipotle’s eight men crashed as the peloton parted a roundabout on slick roads with 60km remaining. Vande Velde, Ryder Hesjedal, Trent Lowe, Will Frischkorn, David Millar and Julian Dean all hit the ground, sustaining scrapes but no serious injuries. Only Pate, up the road in the breakaway, and Martin Maaskant finished without hitting the deck.

Fränk Schleck and his CSC -Saxo Bank team-mates Andy Schleck and Carlos Sastre putting considerable pressure on race leader Cadel Evans on the final climb. Bernhard Kohl (Gerolsteiner), Sastre, Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d’Epargne) and Denis Menchov (Rabobank) managed to jettison the maillot jaune, while Fränk Schleck was more conservative, waiting for the final few hundred metres to jump away in a bid for yellow.

…mark cavendish ???…now there’s a young guy who’s served his team well & deserves that rest…bet next year he makes paris, in style…
…post race, garmin’s danny pate looked so disappointed in himself, when in fact, that was an amazing ride for a ‘tour newbie’…props, young man, whether you’re feeling it right now or not !!!…
…poor oscar pereiro…damn dude, if yer gonna ‘off-road’ downhill, pick a smooth field like ol’ ‘whats his name’…bad jokes aside, hoping he’ll be a-ok & heal vitement…
…now, you knew it wasn’t gonna be easy, right, cadel evans???…yea, ok…& while christian vandevelde might be taking over the aussie’s mantle of “mister lack of excitement”, just the fact that he’s in the position he’s in, is pretty damn exciting…more props…
…the schleck’s, frank n’ andy…wow…the family that races together, gets places together…& hey, they invited their friend carlos sastre to join the fray…
…ouch, denis menchov, but ya bounced right back up & anyway, we knew you weren’t invisible, just waiting for the right landscape to play in…
…bernhard kohl, riding like that, seems to think he might look better in yellow, rather than ‘pois d’ rouge’…
…& alejandro valverde wants to show off that fancy paint job again, a little closer to the front, where it oughta be…
…so damn, gnome, you are quite right, sir…fuck’n a, the tour…now, totally bad ass/ how it should be…
…we got us a bike race…

Hm, I suppose there may be some interest in how things shape up Wednesday afternoon atop l’Alpe d’Huez. It fucking hurts just looking at the photos of those guys on the Prato Nevoso.

Hell yeah, now this is more like it.
I don’t care who is and isn’t at the race, it is fun to watch right now.
Alpe d’Huez stage looks miserable….should be a great stage to watch.
Maybe we can even get so lucky as to hear more from Bruyneel.
Anyone actually read this book?
