Tour of Flanders 2011 finale

Note: We’ll post better video as it becomes available. Please provide links in comment section. Update: “ronde van vlaanderen 2011 final kilometres – Nick Nuyens victory” below. Boonen had so much power, and he almost there. C-Store could feel it too, and he started the sprint early to try and keep the distance. I believe Read the full article…

Damn…

I should have gone to CU-Boulder

Who am I kidding? It’s not like they’d have me. (Can’t remember if I had even applied to that school. Let’s assume I did & they didn’t.) To quote the late, great, Groucho Marx; “I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member.” Who and what? Zirbel now free Read the full article…

It rolls deep

Shot of my driveway on Friday afternoon. Yes, my girls ride each and every one of them. And, yes, there are a few more in the garage. I asked my eldest if she liked having so many bikes. She replied, “You can never have too many bikes, Dad.” Well played.

Gent – Wevelgem 2011 finale

After watching that video this evening during a well deserved study break, I have three things to say: Ian Stannard’s late lone bid was gritty (caught at 150 meters!), Gert Steegman is a monster, and Tom Boonen showed them all. Update: Stannard knows what the wind feels like. He is without fear.

Gent – Wevelgem 2011

I have a rather sickly two year old at home (some vomiting yesterday & last night, but better this morning), so I was unable to sit in front of a computer to watch any of Gent – Wevelgem. That’s the way life goes sometimes, you know. It’s OK. I’d rather have a healthy kid on Read the full article…

Changes like Bowie

About eight years ago, while I was working at Rose Bike Shop in Orono, Maine, I came across an old Raleigh Gran Prix that I converted into a fixed gear. It was my go-to commuter for a long time and I loved it, even though the geometry of it meant I was never completely comfortable Read the full article…

A Bunch of Stuff Related to Bikes

Spring has sprung, daylights saving time occured, my research life has picked up, and I am easily distracted.  The end result is that the all of the things that I see during the week that I feel are DC material, get swept to the wayside temporarily.  Instead they will all get crammed together in this Read the full article…

E3 Prijs Vlaanderen 2011

Fabian Cancellara took the top spot, crossing the finish alone. Source: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/e3-prijs-vlaanderen-harelbeke-1-hc/e3-prijs-vlaanderen-harelbeke/photos/164894. After watching him bring the meat-rack and diesel it up proper, I will hereafter attempt to refer to him only as either C-Store or Big Oil for the balance of 2011. Just because I can. Dude brings it like a full display of Read the full article…

Another cool thing they do in Amsterdam, and not here.

Local Happenings (AZ)

I have a couple events to tell you about. If you are not in Arizona, feel free to stop reading now. It looks like the lovely boys and girls over at T.B.A.G. are planning another bike party. This one involves a city park, local beer, local music, local food (I’m sensing a theme here), and Read the full article…
