Thanks to Hooligan for posting a link to this video in the comment section. This is the supposed HD version of the video. But, to be honest, I can’t tell the difference between them on this machine (yes, I watched both).

Paris – Roubaix 2011: Finale
The way to win a Classic is alone. Johan Van Summeren just did exactly that. And, on a flattening rear tire (update: really flat). In Van Summeren’s words, “It was not easy to take the corners but it worked out well. I entered the track like wuhuhuhu.” After finishing, he proposed to his girlfriend. Later, Read the full article…
Paris – Roubaix 2011: Crashes of Tom Boonen and Sylvain Chavanel
Oh, that looks like it hurt. I have also found a short (like two seconds short) vid of C-Store putting the hammer down. Cancellara Hushovd, Flecha and Ballan go by in a blur. Sorry about the lead-in commercial that is three times longer than the actual video. The caption reads, “Fabian Cancellara giving flat stick Read the full article…
Mimosa is due
Chavanel rode with class last weekend. He played the team card he was dealt – essentially, work for Boonen. It allowed him to sit on the tail end of the mighty C-Store, declining nearly every invitation to share in the work. If not for the late arrival of a fresh-legged Nick Nuyens, the man known Read the full article…
De Vlaeminck holds forth
De Vlaeminck likes Cancellara for Roubaix: “He can win on Sunday by dropping Boonen. I like Cancellara, he attacks and races with panache. Everyone rode against him at Flanders, even the mechanics of the other teams who wouldn’t give him a bottle. That was scandalous. But he was the strongest. Boonen is a good rider Read the full article…
Bernard Hinault
Bernard Hinault is a Baller. He falls. He chases. He gets back on. He goes straight to the front and takes them all by the throat. The man had so much class. He was simply unstoppable. As the six riders entered the velodrome it read like a who’s who of Paris Roubaix greats. De Vlaeminick Read the full article…

Tour of Flanders 2011 finale
Note: We’ll post better video as it becomes available. Please provide links in comment section. Update: “ronde van vlaanderen 2011 final kilometres – Nick Nuyens victory” below. Boonen had so much power, and he almost there. C-Store could feel it too, and he started the sprint early to try and keep the distance. I believe Read the full article…
Tour of Flanders 2011
In an outcome I neither expected nor anticpated, Nick Nuyens took the 2011 Tour of Flanders (or, the Ronde van Vlaanderen, if you prefer the Dutch). Source: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-flanders-upt/photos/166364. Good on ya, son. You earned that one. Nuyens on the Kapelmuur: Source: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-flanders-upt/photos/166507. I was coming of my skin for Gilbert after his attack on the Read the full article…
I should have gone to CU-Boulder
Who am I kidding? It’s not like they’d have me. (Can’t remember if I had even applied to that school. Let’s assume I did & they didn’t.) To quote the late, great, Groucho Marx; “I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member.” Who and what? Zirbel now free Read the full article…
It rolls deep
Shot of my driveway on Friday afternoon. Yes, my girls ride each and every one of them. And, yes, there are a few more in the garage. I asked my eldest if she liked having so many bikes. She replied, “You can never have too many bikes, Dad.” Well played.
Gent – Wevelgem 2011 finale
After watching that video this evening during a well deserved study break, I have three things to say: Ian Stannard’s late lone bid was gritty (caught at 150 meters!), Gert Steegman is a monster, and Tom Boonen showed them all. Update: Stannard knows what the wind feels like. He is without fear.
