This would be one of those rare occasions where a mountain biking video actually shows how fast the rider is going

  1. I find if interesting no one commented yet. This is straight up some of the most rowdy, gnar riding I’ve ever seen. This is called real mountain biking. I am starting think we have a old man reader base that doesn’t know how to Identify with real mountain biking.

  2. Dirty: Good luck tomorrow. Had a freakin blast today in marathon. I leave you with a qoute from one to whom “pinning it” was a way of life, and a 1 minute video that demonstrates as much.

“And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.” – Ayrton Senna

  3. What is Tomac up to these days? TDF level road racer, world-class XC, and from what I understand the dude was downright scary going downhill on whatever shit they were riding in the early 90’s? Seriously, how fuckin’ unreal was this guy? From the little I know about him I would guess he riding the range somewhere on a ranch in CO?

Unfortunately, many people do not consider fun an important item on their daily agenda. For me, that was always high priority in whatever I was doing.

I’m a 40 year old who loves flowing some xc ss on the rocky East Coast trails. These young “Bucks” (pun intended) pushing the limits are an inspiration to me and others. No comments required! That dude rips fo shizzle. Stop trying to make me feel older than I am. I’m gonna ride this buzz out and get some rocks in the AM. BRaaaaaaaaP! Fingers crossed for no flats.

I herd a rumor that Eli can now out climb his old man, but Johnny T can still drop his “little” boy on the downz. I don’t doubt it. If you were too busy watching Senna clips (I love ’em too), Eli is a bad ass on the AMA supercross tour. He came up a wee short this year, but the future will tell.

  5. @Buck I’ll have to check out Tomac’s son. I have huge respect for motorcross guys. I can’t recall the name of the documentary, I think Dust to Glory, but the footage of the two motorcycle racers shot from above racing on the beach in the Baja 1000 full out seems to speak to their brass balls.

As for Senna, the dude was captivating. The immense talent, total committment, and then all the other stuff that made him “different”. The shit about him going into different dimensions, the paradox of the complete ruthlessness vs. the humility, his ability to drive in the rain when everyone else basically quit, the way the people in Brazil thought about him. And then the fact that the cars those guys were driving in his era were the epitome of man vs. machine and him being able to drive them beyond even what they were intended to do. Here is some of the greatest F1 footage you’ll ever see from Berger’s onboard at Monza in ’90.

  6. Yes, i would have to agree with you. Gwin was Beasting it out there. At the Speeds he was riding at, and the shear focus and control that takes. I don’t think in all my years of riding, i have seen anything quite like this. Close but not Quite!
