Hand-ups and Beatdowns at Whiskey 50

I spent yesterday morning on course at the Whiskey bouncing between aid stations with a bottle of Jim Beam and a camera. This is what I came up with:

Aid station 1/3 was a great scene. Stop here before you go 12 miles down, come back through after those same 12 miles back up

After the leaders came through, I decided to ride up to Aid station 4 and see what was shaking at the top of the hill. I knew that with the majoraty of the climbing over that it was bound to be a good scene. As I wheezed my way to the top of the hill I am greeted by the boys from Sunday Cycles. They have a habit of placing a keg at the best spot on course at all the local endurance races and they came through yet again at the Whiskey. We were an unstoppable force of beer and whiskey aid  to the riders. Those boys from Sunday are the real deal. Thanks for helping with this headache I have this morning, guys!

I swerved my way back down the hill into town, laughing and enjoying every mile. The festivities at the finish line and the courthouse square were in full swing.

  1. “Singlespeed women. Probably tougher than you.”

I think you can just get rid of the PROBABLY part.

  2. congrats to LAR – official baller and definite fucking bad ass female representin’ up there on that podium. way to rock that SS (did DB take the boobs off the bike yet?)!!!

  3. Dirty, blake and I left our livers somewhere near the
keg. If you or anyone else finds them, please return em to Sunday Cycles Bike Shop. Always our pleasure to keep the masses lubed up. Shout out to the douchebag ham radio guy for attempting but failing to ruin it for the rest of our fellow two wheeled brochachos.

  4. Thanks for the Beam Dirty. It was delicious. Thanks to the guys at Sunday cycles too for the beer. That’s badass guys.
What a great ride and a great day. I finished the 50 proof with a huge smile on my face.

  5. …certainly looks like a nice day on the dirt under a beautiful blue sky…

    “probably tougher than you”…yup…

  6. That photo of the Beam hand off is just beautiful. Just beautiful.

  7. Joe and Blake did me right yet again, a beer with a trunk of funk has never tasted so good. The liquid courage helped me reel in a few on the downhill too. Maybe next year you guys can park a keg at the bottom of skull valley so I don’t feel the climb as much?

Great event, great friends, great town and great trails. I hope this one continues to grow, the city was behind it and it deserves it.

  10. I didn’t do shit for time at the Whiskey, but somehow with the help of Dirty, et. al, I made a perfect grab, swig, pass back, pedal, pedal, grab beer, chug, without falling off the bike. Thanks guys!

  11. I’m sad to have missed the fun. Looks like a real party. Yes the single speed ladies are tougher than me and the Sunday Cycles guys rock!!!
