A band worth checking out…

Dan Smith's set up

This past weekend I got myself and my camera out to see a band called Listener. I rather enjoyed the show and would think if they are coming in your direction in the next year put em’ on the calendar. Wow, I didn’t say one bad word in this post…

  1. wow. very interesting… schizophrenic slam-poetry meets yo la tengo. I like it, but don’t know how much of it I could take before wanting to jump off of the nearest tall structure. A full show might be too much. Is that Daniel Day-Lewis?

  2. …maybe ya had to be there live but i can think of ‘other stuff’ i’d rather spend an evening listening to…

    …just sayin’…

  3. …don’t worry, caveman…i ain’t belittling it ‘cuz i’m one who appreciates art in a lotta strange & abstract forms but i’m just sayin’ it’s definitely not to my taste…

…hope they do well so the guitar player can afford shoes…

  4. The first minute of sweating out, tics, and rambling, screams DC.

As long as you’re not, well, sweating out, tic’king, and rambling.

    Then it’s just sad.

    Just saying…

The song itself screams “I’m taking a drunk, fat chick home tonight”.

    Again. Just saying…

  5. Less talk. More rock. They could give it a try, anyway. I mean, it couldn’t hurt. You know, it’s called “music” for a reason.

  6. See the problem is I am a Caveman- he’s singing my tune. It’s funny what kills one person brings joy to another. This song makes me want to go out and rip the handlebars off my bike riding the sickest trail- thats fucking fired up.

  7. love the mic stand… PVC “T” connector, tape and some metal tube. if they can pull that, say what they have to say, and get some claps then they deserve some attention, shoes or not shoes

  8. Okay, I got a m00sical question for you punks out there.

One of my favorite Hüsker Dü songs ever is “Erase Today,” and I can’t find out for the life of me who wrote it. Obviously, either Mould or Hart. Any of you web search geniuses have the terms to ferret out this nugget? Oh, and don’t forget to play it loud.

  9. Dirty— you are THE MAN. I owe yez a beer. I of course searched wiki but did not drill down to that _New_Day_Rising_ entry.

The version of “Erase Today” that I have is on an SST compilation and runs just over one minute thirty seconds. Apparently, the “unreleased” version on non-U.S. versions of _New_day_Rising_ runs over two minutes long. Amazon.com lists the songs incorrectly. Play it loud, people.
