Below are a couple of links that go into a bit more detail of the response time to the site and for the memorial ride this Sunday for the victim. I read some comments on the story posted on your site and a couple of people mentioned how there is too much anger directed towards the driver, Carlos Bertonatti.
This man has a history of assaults and traffic violations (over 40 traffic violations alone) that he bragged about on his website, which was taken down since the accident. He bragged about it!! Look at the picture that was taken when he was arrested. See any remorse in those eyes? I for one truly believe this guy will not ever live with any of the guilt he should have over what he has done. He never did before. He bragged about it!!
He is from Venezuela, which means if he is found guilty they may deport him. Most of us here are hoping that he does not get deported.

Let’s get him to prison first. After reading some of those comments on the last post about how this was a “tragic accident,” I started to get concerned about the sanity of this guys peer group down there in south florida. Every time I look at those posted replies – where the authors feign shock at our anger and desire for retribution – I replace the term “bicyclist” in the original story with “mother pushing stroller with infant.” It is as that moment that I know my desire for painful vengeance is honorable and just. When I think of the pretty mother holding pressure on the bleeding from the infant’s head and neck while that drunken jetta-driving shitshow drags the stroller from the undercarriage, sparks flying, then I know.
There IS a moral equivalent here. The term “accident” misses the mark. By fucking light-years.

“Mother pushing stroller with infant.” Yep, that’d do it. That jackass would be blacklisted from the planet by everyone who wasn’t his immediate relative. Actually, that wouldn’t be a bad strategy for the prosecution. The old, “A Time to Kill” monologue switcharoo. A horrible movie at best, and Matthew McConaughey hasn’t been good in anything since Dazed and Confused, but that’s irrelevant. You could go the same way on this. Tell the tale, leaving no horrendous detail unmentioned and then “Now imagine that was a young mom pushing her new baby in a stroller.” Boom. Lock the dude in a room somewhere and throwaway the room.

Jesus, if this guy walks… fuck me. I would think 40 traffic violations alone would have gotten this guy some time already.
