Five years

Dr. Thompson faces his destiny.

The culmination of it all fell upon this man like a ton of bricks. And I, having seen a man likewise sentenced to five years incarceration for what he did to me with his automobile… I have little sympathy.

A doctor convicted of assaulting two bicyclists by slamming on his car brakes after a confrontation on a narrow Brentwood road was sentenced today to five years in prison.

Christopher Thompson, wearing dark blue jail scrubs, wept as he apologized to the injured cyclists shortly before he was sentenced.

“I would like to apologize deeply, profoundly from the bottom of my heart,” he told them, his right hand cuffed to a court chair.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Scott T. Millington called the case a “wake-up call” to motorists and cyclists and urged local government to provide riders with more bike lanes. He said he believed that Thompson had shown a lack of remorse during the case and that the victims were particularly vulnerable while riding their bicycles.

The case against Thompson, 60, has drawn close scrutiny from bicycle riders around the country, many of whom viewed the outcome as a test of the justice system’s commitment to protecting cyclists.

Millington said he did not take into account more than 270 e-mails and letters from cyclists that were filed with the court urging a tough sentence.

About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. Now that’s what I call good justice right there. 5 years, I think is appropriate for what he did. And I also, have no sympathy at all.

  2. They always cry during sentencing. He showed no remorse during the case, but now that he’s facing serious jail time – time for the tears. Two words for you, doctor: Fuck you – deeply, profoundly from the bottom of my heart.

  3. hope he likes x-large tattooed men. learn to speak spanish quick fucker and maybe you can talk your way out of being a bottom once and a while.
and since you’re into “teaching lessons” how about you try that tough guy thing on the biggest guy in the cell block. keep in touch and let us all know how it’s going. see you in 5 bitch…get use to that name by the way.

  4. ‘Coulda been prevented if the police had done SOMETHING instead of NOTHING after the first incident.I believe he thought the cops were OK with his behavior. After all, he got away with the first incident scott-free..

  5. Good to see, hopefully this will get coverage and alot of drivers will take note. I wonder how many cyclists have come to him after being injured, maybe it wasn’t malice as much as just trying to increase business.
But is 5 years of lost business worth it?

  6. I bet this doctor is riding with Lance in a few years doing commercials and PSA’s about sharing the road.

Much like Michael Vick, who had no remorse until AFTER he got busted dog fighting, fuck him too. Now he (Vick) is a spokesman for the Humane Society!? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4180150 See what I mean? This fucker will get out of jail and be in a Trek add within months.

I can only hope the doc’s farts will never be audible again, simply a slight sigh of wind with no restrictions at exit. Kinda like putting a small fan in a very long hallway.

  7. This has got to be one of the happiest moments in my life. This asshole got the least of what he deserves. We’ve all had to deal with to many self entitled douche bags that think they can do whatever they want because they have money and position. Well now he has neither. His arrogance was his downfall and thankfully so. Now that he has to face the reality of his actions he cries like the little bitch he is. This could only be better if this story was on the front page of every paper and the lead story for every new cast across the county, maybe then drivers would realize cyclist are people to and must be treated as such.

  8. man that guy kinda looks like the ass clown who owns the bike shop in asspen.. the kinda bike shop owner who takes up the parking lot with his water ski boat behind his monster truck headin to powell, stoppin in to talk some more shit to the employees before departure,, used to like bikes.. jeeez enjoy the slammer BItCH

  9. …ray…that’s part of the problem in that the general public looks at this & they just don’t “get” the fact that other people would use a vehicle as a weapon against cyclist’s…

…i was down in so-cal w/ a non-cycling girlfriend when we heard the news on the tube…i fucking cheered & her first comment, she being a medical professional was a skeptical “well, that’s crazy…it’s hard for me to believe it wasn’t an accident ‘cuz why would anyone intentionally do that knowing it would fuck up their car ???…that’s just not logical”

…i had to explain the whole situation wherein the good doctor had a history of vehicular rage & similar behavior & again there was skepticism until i pointed out that murder is “illogical” knowing the consequences but that it happens all the time…most people assume that others in positions of responsibility or power never come unhinged or “how would they be in that position ???” but obviously it happens all the time…

…while a few folks here kinda joked about the good doctor trying to increase business for the emergency room, i think there may have been an attitude of complacency on his part ‘cuz “hey, i’ve patched up worse than anything that’s gonna happen to these fuckers when i slam on my brakes, so big fucking deal”

    …anyway…i’m glad he’s paying for his transgressions w/ jail time & i agree w/ judi that he’ll prob’ly be out in two…

…but in all honesty, i doubt that the general public really “gets” the actual significance of this case…
