It’s not fair to say all Republicans are racists, but…

… if you are a racist, you are probably a Republican.

I must include a hat tip to Scarborough on his prompt, clear and unequivocal condemnation of Audra Shay. He did say the Party should “relieve her of her responsibilities” at once. I’m glad he’s not too far gone to see that.

A few things from the bike shop.

Thanks to K Clegg outta T-town for this one. Hells yea. I feel the pain.

Ain’t that some shit

The last time I was in Nashville, it gave me no reason ever to return. It was Road National Championships. The week prior to the race, we spent some quality time rolling around the burbs and hoods. Not once, did I feel save or respected as a cyclist. Apparently, that is status quo.

Everyday

Everyday I read a few blogs. Most of them are about nothing, some are just old friends that I try and stay up to date in their lives. One of these blogs kills me. Everyday I come into work, sit down, turn on the computer and go to this one.
With a sort [...]

I’m only here because Jonny told me to…

He bugged me the other day about how quiet I’ve been, so Here I am. Back with a clarification and a rant-ish post.
After the election many places I visit on the Intertubes™ were full of ‘haters’ at the fact Obama won. For whatever reason people couldn’t be happy with someone who is intelligent, capable of [...]

We’re No. 1?

All you Flagstiffs will be pleased to know that my hometown, the concrete clusterplex of Bibleburg, Colorado, sprawls like a fat late-term-abortion baby atop Outside magazine’s list of “America’s Best Cities.”
What lesson should we learn from this? Primarily, that if you’re into good weed, you should move not to Bibleburg, but to Santa Fe, [...]

Humpday musings

You know you’ve been in Phoenix for the summer when you see 96 degrees on the thermometer and say to yourself, oh, it cooling off today, I’ll go for a ride.
In case you’re wondering (and I’m sure that you are) it topped out at 115 yesterday and the day before. Super fun [...]

Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

What does it mean to be a black man in America? Ask Mr. Gates. He’ll tell you. It is apparently awesome.
His arrest docs are up at thesmokinggun.com, in case you want to take a look. A lot of convo on the subject over at The Daily Dish the last few days. [...]

Our Bike Punk?

Haven’t heard much out of him lately. Might be time to send Big Pun across the pond to investigate.

“biking to work, i happened upon this bike punk, passed out on road. i think he knocked side mirror off car. he was breathing so i let him be.”

That’s what I’m talking about!

Wiggo. Full stop.
Wiggins is racing well and climbing well, and letting other riders know it. While pedaling up a tough climb with other top riders in the Pyrenees last week, he shouted, again and again, “That’s what I’m talking about!”
Some riders, including Levi Leipheimer, gave him an odd look. Leipheimer later asked one of [...]

Ventoux cometh

Tomorrow is Mont Ventoux. Pretenders need not apply. I’ll be on my sofa in my underwear hollering something fierce come morning. After I do much the same all night. Because it’s Friday and I’m struggling with my midlife crisis. And by “midlife crisis” I mean “thought I’d try law school”. [...]

The Xtracycle Life: How to Make Your Bike a Purse

I wouldn’t say it was reluctance that it took me this long to write about an xtracycle I picked up from the heads at biketrailershop.com. But then, after I put down the cash for the freeradical(FR), it sat in the garage for months while I slept through the pain of spring. A few weeks or maybe months [...]

A 22-year-old cyclist [...]

There is always beer.

The big man (ok, 176, but who’s counting?) is a bit blue. Beer helps. Trust me.
[Edit: I'm afraid I wasn't very clear: I meant to say Cancellara is 176 lbs. I got a text message telling me I was too thin! I am closer to 215. Rest [...]

Hushovd sprinkles on a little thug sauce

Like many of you out there this morning, I awoke to Thor Hushovd taking the race by the throat and shaking the shit out of it. God damn right.
“I had an amazing day on the bike at the front,” Hushovd said. “I think it was the best day I’ve ever had on [...]
