Dope Ass Roundup

First up, support your local bike shop such as this one in Fremont that offers bike repair lessons as well as prime parade-front realestate should you be one of those recluse parade fiends.

Thanks to Mile L. for that one. It’s making for a great Monday as much as the cockeyed girl over at HTABL made Friday rejoiceful. Yea, things are looking up.

Second up, I got this one in from Drew a bit back,

Check out the link.  Bicyclist harrasment ordinance passed.

Cheers,

Drew

Indeed that is pretty awesome. Because there really is nothing like being hit with random bullshit while out on a ride. I hope the ordinance gets amended.

In doping news… Viva la risistaaaaaance!

Belgian Gert Steegmans has been given until Monday to sign the Katusha team’s anti-doping agreement. The sprinter has so far refused to put his name to the document, which states that riders will give up five times their annual salary to the team if they test positive, La Dernier Heure reported Sunday.

Hmm. Impressive. More impressive:

Robbie McEwen was one of the riders to balk at the document…

Why so reluctant? That’s what cycling minds want to know. It seems this New Cyling Order (NCO) is akin to the new Climate Change Order (CCO); a bunch of morally obfuscated rationales getting in the way of a good time. Feel good sucky sucky. Whateva.

All I know is that when God gets here, he’ll find it prefectly fine what we’re doing.

Hey Man;  I just watched the Tour De Suisse and The Dauphine recaps on VS. and getting pumped up for Le Tour.

Wow I didn’t know Lance had Cancer and Paul Sherwin said he thinks Cadel Evens can Attack in the mountains. We got the annual reminder that Hincapie is a “sprinter” and contender for the over all.  They talked about how much Garmin is a threat this Tour despite the abomination their results are this season.  Paul went on and on about Millar…clearly he is in love.  They
said Millar was “the only guilty cyclist to admit”… yea right!

The real comedy was Phil’s comment when a rider blew a kiss to the camera during a stage; ” That must be for Paul because it certainly wasn’t for me” (what I was thinking since OLN days) Dude is for sure….Word

OK great I know we are going to get the tour on TV and for real I dig that like no other.  But I must say that VS is tired. That intro they run every post commercial must take about 15 min total of the 2 hr show.  They are going to use that dumbass cultural sorority chick to give us the dumbass interviews with dudes like we think it is cute that some mutt chick is cycling illiterate and they want a cultural crossover. then there is the ”tech” updates that are nothing more than a Specialized commercial.  Wait Bob Roll is a comic book author with his comic series on “the peloton”….errr wait really it is a cartoon advertisement for Astana and
Trek. Please god no word merchant Frankie A and no Chris Carmichael telling us to drink water

It is beyond me why they have to dumb down everything and over produce this event.

If they want to make things interesting, because obviously the big wigs at VS think the event and sport itself is not interesting enough; why not bring in a MD to analyze the effects of all the different dope dudes put in them and the blood transfusions etc.  They could ask tough questions in the docudrama series they do on the so called favorites. How about asking mark
cavendish about his Giro comment on the “Garmin Season commitment” to the Giro Team Time Trial and their obsession with Columbia killed their entire season.  If you are going to use Frankie why not ask the Peloton their opinion of dude and tell us why you had to pull his ass off the interviews and off the show….

As much as I love Phil and Paul and Bob….Universal Sports set the new standard covering the Giro IMHO.  Straight up Race coverage by racers for riders which in fact actually informs and entertains the general public by default.  Maybe it was beginners luck and the timing was such that they couldn’t prep.

More and more I find myself watching this VS cycling with my Bose headphones and a phat backbeat

Go Lance out

Word. They’re tired with the L.A. factor diminishing. I like what Universal Sports did with the Giro, which was nothing but air it.

On the local front, it seems there’s another party going to bust out in FLG. I just hope nobody fucks with their course markers:

Full skinny over at robothouse.org. I’ll prolly go knowing full well that Prolly is not Probably. Here’s some vid of their last effort. Kids on bikes. Beers. Good times.

The weekend was hell in a very good way. Things popped around the mountain. I took a nap in the woods. I never saw the grand canyon. And everyone was looking at me like nothing had happened when it was all said and done. It was some kind of euphoric conundrum at the least. Very good times.

Happy Monday

…horner, leipheimer & armstrong all looked lean, fit, smooth & hungry at nevada city…

…right from the get go, leipheimer & armstrong surged to the front w/ a strong ben jacques maynes riding their wheels as the two astana boys traded places back n’ forth…actually thought lance was riding the front to eventually give levi the win but the livestrong bedecked rider went off w/ six to go & stayed on it…

…tough little course & maybe only a regional win but the racing was serious & formidable…

…fun day in california’s old gold mining country w/ the exception of the dweebs, clowns & asshats who don’t seem to realize, even after seeing a full program of fast bike racing that “rider up” means ‘get off the fucking course now’, not finish your casual stroll across the road…

  2. Mikey Says:

The Tour is on Versus? That sucks, I don’t get that channel. US did a fine job with the Giro and it was a great race as well. I guess I’m a cyclingnews.com guy again this year.

  3. prolly Says:

Thanks for the plug! Keep it up. Great blog duders.

  4. bikesgonewild Says:

…***a tale of dedicated friends n’ bike racing***…

…serious props to my amigos rich n’ donna of ‘breaking away bikes’…

…they were on the road, already in the east bay, prob’ly 15 miles from my house & headed to the nevada city race when i called ‘em…

…half awake, thinkin’ “shit…three fourteen hour workdays, very little sleep, so no way am i gonna try n’ drive up to nevada city…bikesgonewild will not be cheering on chris horner & his pals before they go bike racing in france next month…c’est la fucking vie”

…but cha know what ???…w/ no prompting on my part, they fucking turned around to come back n’ pick my sorry ass up which gave me time for a quick cuppa tea & a wake up shower so i could make the show…

…now that was cool & that was beyond awesome…so we went up there & cheered on every bike racer on that course…we were just really loud when horner pedaled through…

…later on, dinner was on me & it was a small price to pay…

  5. Mike Says:

I’m interested in hearing what the naysayers have to say about Armstrong this time around. Go ahead, don’t hold back.

  6. HUMPTY Says:

    Mike,

Armstrong is a flaming homotestical and really only “mounted” a “comeback” (no pun intended) b/c he secretly has a man crush for Levi…he also clubs baby seals for fun…. while on EPO…

  7. Mike Says:

    That’s what I’m talking about!

  8. bikesgonewild Says:

    …humpty…you say that like it’s a bad thing…

  9. HUMPTY Says:

it is a good and joyful thing…with angels and archangels….

you know what, I’m sorry. Lance never did that shit to baby seals while on EPO…he was blood doping instead. and he does not have a man crush on Levi’s mangina…it is Basso. my bad
