I want to start this one off with a little trip created by photographer Kieth Loutit out of Austrailia.
I find that previous visual somewhat apropos considering the next nugget (pun) of news dished up by more than a few, but most memorably the quote went something like…
Ha ha, oh man, my sides… stop it… Poor Missy. Show’s over. She’s fucked (pun) Whatever. It’s already forgotten (pun). Nobody cares. Moving on…
In regard to Hamilton and his recent retirement plan which was barely glazed (pun) over here at DC, I pulled this from the annals of BKW because it sums up quite succinctly that whole deal.
“In Hamilton, I see humanity, a normal guy with extraordinary gifts. For me, he has put a human face on the blackmail one faces in the pro ranks.”
Well, like a lot of what Padraig writes, that sums up the dynamics at work in the pelican with more accuracy than most others know. It’s do or die just like anything else but in the case of cycling, the dope is no longer in vogue and in Hamilton’s case, he died as it is apparent his gifts were only of human quality. It’s a tuff business in there. I can’t imagine he has anything but relief at this point and probably will soon discover that avoiding the bummer life is much easier now.
While we’re at it, the UCI is putting together their first list of passort violators. Five of em so far and so far, the passport evidence shows that the majority of the peloton is riding clean showing “normal blood values.” Oh, of course. The pelican has seen this whole program coming down the pipe for years so it’s a no shit Sherloc. I don’t think we’re done with the fallout on this one either. The new system will have its holes. And yea, I wonder how many amateurs were denied success because of it all.
And just now, KOM champ Rook admits to EPO use back in ‘88.
“Yes, I’ve taken EPO. It was necessary to finish high up in the classification,” Rooks said.

Really? No shit? Slowly, the generalization that “everyone was/is on dope” is becoming an accuracy. Awesome.
Lastly and perhaps most important to all of this, is that Boom Boom will no be allowed in the tour this year because of the cocaine he enjoyed? or according to others the cocaine he didn’t enjoy. I’m so confused. The Tour organizers are geh except for Hinault. He’s a bad ass.
Doping is dead. long live doping.

Possibly the most amazing thing about the video is that he got that close to a major port with a camera, which last I checked is a major breach of security in most english-speaking nations. Not as big a breach as 400 pounds of wacky tobacky tho.

Doping. Huh. Who ever woulda thunk that it would be gone forever! Oh happy days!
On that video… that was trippy indeed. I’m still confused about whether I was watching still motion models, or real stuff, or both. Gonna go check that guys site out and see if there are any clues.
Nice Post.

…poor missy…this ain’t no “crime of the century” shit but it’ll be treated that way…
…think about it…400lbs X millions of everyday smokers = gone in a fucking toke…(or whatever you “kids” call it these days)…

and people used to think Missy Giove was good for our sport of cycling?
Ha!
I’d rather our young ‘impressionable’ kids use Lance Armstrong as a role model, even if he is sponsored by Bristol-Myers Squibb. :)
