Biker Down: Cindy Pool

One out of AZ.

from: joe

Cindy Pool from Payson AZ was run over by a semi in WY Tuesday while go cross-country.  She was an excellent athlete with several RR AZ State Championship to her credit and recently qualified for Kona, after a decade + hiatus from Ironman TRIs. The two women were riding between their husbands driving camper rigs, but the semi driver still managed to run her down.  Below is her trip blog. Maybe some kind words from DC readers would be good for the family.

Is the war escalating? I think so. Are we on the losing end? I know so. Be safe.

For those that didn’t know, Cindy was a great athlete and cyclist. I ran into her on the bike several times pedaling around Payson and Roosevelt Lake. One time my wife and I were riding our tandem from Payson down to Hwy 188 just hauling the mail. We catch Cindy on her road bike and she latches on our wheel at around 40mph and tails us down the big hills. She then took some hard pulls up the big rollers only to inform us that she had already been riding 3+ hours on her training ride. :) She had a great attitude, was always smiling, and will surely be missed. RIP Cindy.
