Seems like an wild use of government money… 7 cops to make sure bikes aren’t ridden? what does that cost? each pig makes at least $20 and hour plus the public that they harass pays their retirements and healthcare… so 1000$ a pop for pigs to make sure kids don’t ride bikes?
fuckin pigs, go fight crime or something.
lucky for us, you can now ride in reed park,a few others on teh west side and now we have our own badass bikes only park in chandler. A lot of people took a lot of time, went through the “proper” steps and they actually got stuff done
i recommend chandler park to everybody. Come on down, there is enough cement to go around!
And people wonder why we can’t trust the fucking ‘officers of the law’!
If that guys dick was half as big as he thought it was his salary would be tax payers money. But then again, the gay porn industry may be hurting b/c of the economy, as well.
That’s whats up. That set it straight arrest happened in my hometown and was some really big shit for a while. Community was pissed at the police force and still continues to look at the Redding Police Department with distain. The lead singer and drummer fought for wrongful arrest, and a slew of other thing, won, and made the cops look like dicks.
This makes me sick. Cops have nothing better to with their time then harass people for doing non-offensive things. Makes you wonder what “To protect and serve” really means…
These kids need to get themselves a civil-rights attorney to witness this and call out any inappropriate that the police may do and be ready to file a complaint immediately from the scene of the violation. In some states it is illegal to handcuff a child below a certain age as well, are there any such laws/policies in place in AZ.?
Also if an attorney witnesses any violation of the laws of the state transpiring against any of these protesters they can submit a request to the local District Attorney to file charges of any law broken provided they have evidence backing up the claim such as video. Just because an officer is in uniform is does not mean they are beyond arrest if there is sufficient evidence they broke the law. Also without an attorney present someone who is in process of being detained has the right to request the supervisor on duty to come to the scene to make a call on the appropritate action to be taken. Here where I live when one has issues with their local PD it is somewhat normal to contact the county sheriffs department who for lack of a better term “don’t fuck around” and have no problem what so ever going over the local PD’s authority to take care of business for a common citizen without regard to stepping on the toes of the local PD.
Remember to make it a point to tell these officers that they are public servants, remind them of that and tell them to go get you a glass of water.
I’m no fan of cops, but it sure seems like the kids in the first video are being idiots.
If the skatepark doesn’t allow bikes because mixing the bikes and boards is dangerous or whatever other reasonable justification, then they shouldn’t be riding their bikes there. If after they’ve been asked to leave they continue to break the law, then what else would you expect ?
If you don’t like the rule there are more reasonable and effective ways to express yourself than unnecessary civil disobediance.
Also from the 1st video, the officer who destroyed the picket sign had intentionally destroyed private property, someone should have immediately filed a complaint. Have you ever seen an officer at any other peaceful protest take a sign from a protester? Why is it that this officer can do this to someone? It is a clear violation of 1st Amendment rights as this protest took place in a public park.
From Wikipedia…..
“The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States Congress from making laws “respecting an establishment of religion” or that prohibit the free exercise of religion, infringe the freedom of speech, infringe the freedom of the press, limit the right to peaceably assemble, or limit the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Although the First Amendment only explicitly applies to the Congress, the Supreme Court has interpreted it as applying to the executive and judicial branches. Additionally, in the 20th century, the Supreme Court held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the limitations of the First Amendment to each state, including any local government within a state.”
i know this shit is old news but some of the posts above are begging me to make a point…
unfortunately, a lot of people & kids miss the mark by a long shot when it comes to shit like this. you can’t win the game if you don’t play the game. but kids are kids and they have no clue how the park even got there to begin with.
while the police may not always handle the situation appropriately, they are just doing what they are supposed and that is enforce the established public park rules. you can’t antagonize the police then cry foul and expect to justify your cause.
it’s posts like some above from “adults” that discredit skateboarding, bmx, mtnbiking and just about any other recreational sport that enjoys the use of public property.
if you don’t like the rules, make a legitimate legal attempt to change them through the same methods they were established. if that doesn’t work, go to the council person whose district the issue is in. 9x out of 10 if it is a legitimate cause, numbers in representation will always succeed.
if an honest attempt is made and all established legal options have failed, then fuck yeah – protest.
there def are ways to go about these issues and sure there were somethings done on both sides of the argument that may have been the “wrong” thing to do… but i think the biggest thing that pisses me off is there are all these skater only parks and most bikers dont even wanna have there own park they are willing to share it with skaters long as they can ride there too… bikers could say they dont want skaters cause they lose there boards and cause accidents and dont have brakes or and option for brakes so in emergencies they cant stop to avoid accidents unlike bikes but most bikers dont… skaters have kinda been spoiled over the past 10 years, thats no disrespect to teh old timers that got skateparks built and fought there fight but there have also been bikes a long time ago before there were cars and its become so common place to see bikes and transportation its often overlooked that they accommodate many types of recreational use too.. i ride bmx daily and use to ride road bike on a semi daily basis too and honestly i love my bike and it keeps me healthy and out of trouble…. last thing if these parks arent gonna allow bikes then and only allow skaters then when it comes to public places such as “street” riding and skating i think the bikers should get rights and not be ticketed or kicked out since they have no place to go and skaters should be arrested cause they have a spot to skate and arent using it when other bikes would love to use it but they cant!
id say that the protest did work. It brought attention to this BS and has improved riding conditions somewhat, i think.
im saddened by folks who say, “if you want to change the rules you have to follow procedure.” Sometimes working with the system works and sometimes it is more expedient to make a stink.
You can go file papers with the government in hopes that the laws change eventually when YOUR friends are being harassed for riding their bikes.

Seems like going to some city council meetings and starting a petition might be a better to avenue to make a change.

So? What was the reason to begin with that they don’t want bikes in the parks or other places?

Rex,
The skaters don’t like bikes because they say the pegs and pedals chip the concrete.
the flagstaff park is sick insane, no skateboards allowed.
