I’m still amazed with this az gig. This marked the tenth year the Old Pueblo has been in existence, and it was smooth as ever. Sadow and the Epic crew absolutely know how to have a good time. This year, I did not race, and in fact, only rode one lap on Saturday afternoon, and never touched the bike again. There was so much in the pits & watching the action, that it was fine for me.
BGR ran support for Art and Pularski. I hung at their camp for a fair amount of time. They went for the duo, and scored a 4th. They called them selves “Old Growth Hoosiers” both being from indiana. I was inspired by their ride. They took it in stride, relied on each other, and challenged themselves far away from any spectacle, lasting all night, and all day. It should also be mentioned that BGR is the best support for a 24 bar none. Dude’s just on it. Knows what you need, without even asking. Jason and Art would trade laps, sit by the fire, and Randy would just time and tune everything. The best thing a 24 rider can have, is no need to think. BGR supplied. Art & Jason are truly hard riders.
That was my only story from the event. I’m certain there are a lot like that. It was just good to see grass root efforts like that. That’s all I’m say’n.
And, lets be reminded of the plink…
Ugh.
The Black 13 mother fucking represents. He wore a full gorilla suit for the run, then stripped down to the DC for his solo effort: 8 laps or about 120 miles. Nice work Reichel.
Nobel. In a word, stoked. Kona was in full force for the event. Wicks, Trebon and all that shit. Fast.
Girls on bikes. Yes indeed.
Billy, in with the photobomb.
More of the run because it was huge…
Gold Member. The Miller Bros & Caslon nabbed a 12 in the ss 4-man, with only three riders. The Flagstaff representatioin was good this year. The core riders I’d say. There to get it done.
Dejay won another SS solo win @ 15 laps.
Shawn Kramer nabbed most of these photos. you can check the full breakdown at his flickr page.
epicrides.com has the results and more photos. It is only monday and my head is not out of the haze yet. More to come as the week moves on but at this point, I’m pretty stoked I made it down there. It’s an event not to be missed if you have anything to do with the off-road persuasion.

Congrats to Dejay on the 1st. thats a pretty incredible no. of miles from this softies perspective.
..had occasion to loiter about with him a short while at the BCBR and he seemed a real relaxing sort to kill time with. Good to see nice guys can finish first.

I second AK’s sentiments and thank Gnome for the kind words. B.G.R.’s support was utter perfection. He can read minds! It’s scary. Needless to say, I would take a bullet for that guy. I also want to thank Tim and Amy (and Bug) for helping so much….and the Miller’s et al. who were great camp neighbors. I hope I am not forgeting anyone. Flagstaff knows bicycle fun. I really can’t say enough how much all the kindness and good cheer means to me. I hope I wasn’t too grumpy in the middle of the night.

Yo I cannot thank BGR enough for his efforts before the race he released the drag from my brakes and dial them in – I do not even think you guys were aware but he hooked me sometime in the wee ours – stan;d a new tube and changed out a flat for me – then proceeded to know just how big of a hit to pack for me-stuffed my face with magic cookies and gave me the pro roadie push off….later that morn as I attempted (feebily I might add ) to reel in Dejay he was givin me splits and moral confirmation which at that point was much needed. BGR RULES!!! buyin him some new rubber so he can ride to moab and support my ars @ 24NATS.
