Austin Police along with some Austin cyclists in a sting, busted a huge bike burglar/thief from Arizona who has been stealing bikes in the Austin area. I have some friends who have looked over some of the stolen stuff and some of it, quite a bit of it, is from Arizona.
Anyways, this guy is a scumbag. What he would do is befriend cyclists, find out what they owned, then burglarize their entire home when he knew they would be gone. He is a total fraud.
The pics shows his Land Rover, which everyone believes was furnished entirely from the proceeds of burglarized homes of cyclists. The links above explain more, with other links, in those links explaining the depth of his crimes. He had a bike chop-shop!
Anyways, if you have lost a high end road or mountain bike in the Tucson/Phoenix/Flagstaff area from 2005-late 2007 under weird circumstances, this might be the guy that did it.

buncha armchair vigilante’s. judge and jury with just a few strokes of the keyboard. yes the dude appears to meet the criteria for ‘douchebag’. yet we still live in a democratic country where the letter of the law sez to wait until ‘proven guilty’ – which is about all any of us would hope for if our mug was plastered across a bunch of blogs and labeled ‘criminal’ before trial. just sayin, it’s getting slippery on this slope of easy retribution. might feel good to type violent words, but not such a good headspace to live in. who watches the watchmen indeed.

I think it’s safe to say that the concern trolls are a nuisance at best.
Having said that, i would think that its pretty obvious that there are not vigilante groups of cyclists going out and meteing out their own justice. If there was, Im sure the ‘librul media’ would cover it.
These are all “IF THAT GUY IS GUILTY, THEN : ” statements. If you have to be a concern troll, do it somewhere else. This site has started to become all things i dislike about the intertubes. Its a shame, too… Gnomie even brought the porn back to the front page…

Take a look at the link in the original story above. He was arrested with $60,000 worth of stolen bikes in his home. He was arrested coming out of a bank after making a shady Craigslist transaction, then cashing the check. The police did their homework, carefully building a solid case on him. He has previous convictions in CA, AZ, NM, with active felony warrants for his arrest in AZ, in Maricopa county of all places.
He tried chop shopping the parts on Craigslist, where the Austin cycling community grew interested in possible stolen parts he was selling 2 months ago. He was talked about on various messageboards in Austin, where he hired a lawyer to threaten lawsuits against bloggers and messageboards who posted his story. It worked. The bloggers had to back down and even suck face and openly apologize to him. Little did anyone know that he was sitting on a huge pile of stolen bikes, stolen mostly from his friends.
The innocent person I feel sorry for is his girlfriend. She is good people. A real nice person. I’m sure she is destroyed over this.
