Sho-Air Steps Up

As the heyday boils back down to “a love of the sport“, all is not lost…

Sho-Air International, a leading provider of International Trade Show Shipping Solutions has signed a two-year agreement to be the presenting sponsor of the US Pro XC Tour (ProXCT).

More from USA cycling

Sho-Air is good in my book if only for two things. First, is Jonny O’mara. The O’show was one of my hero’s during my youth in California, before 909 even existed. He was a part of four Motocross des Nations teams as well as an SX and MX national champion. And, unlike the dominance of Euro’s in cycling, The U.S. was the powerhouse of Moto, by a clear margin, in those days. Here’s a vid of him taking third at the 82′ San Diego Supercross:

Watching the O’show, Ricky Johnson, Glover, Wardy and the others back in those days tuned me in. They were the catalyst of my devotion to all things two wheeled. Later, in the 90’s O’mara began a transition from moto to cycling that I would later mimic. Both of us never looked back. Cycling was the future, and still is. Today, he is still going strong as the captain of the Sho-Air team and a national champ to boot.

The other reason I want them, and the series to succeed, is for the kids like Josh Kelley, a local Flagstaffian with so much talent, he almost doesn’t know how to control it without laughing hysterically. For him, and others like him, an opportunity to step up to the nationals and possibly the World Cup is an opportunity to make a dream come true, and who should deny that?

Bordered by talent like Ty Kady, Hileman and others, the Sho-Air team has proven how to make good racing happen from a team perspective. Now, as the 09 series evolves, I hope they can transition their mojo into the organizing body of domestic MTB, and maybe once again, mtb can floursish.

I can dream can’t I?
