Humanism, as an organization, didn’t make much sense to me ever.,as an organization of people who can do simple sums would make no sense.
Human Rights make some sense. Possibly the greatest person I ever met(and it humbles me to say I had impressed him a little one day) was Sean MacBride. An Irishman with famous parents who started with outlaw rebels in the fight for independence, bringing them into government. Later the UN Charter, Amnesty International and more were able to rise because of his work.
IA is asking for an army of Sean MacBrides. A real humanist, and a catholic one, by happenstance. (google his mom, Maude Gonne)
Gore would not have lead us into W’s disasters, but he would not have been strong enough to pull his party in congress and the nation toward the real goals. Internationally, on trade..Gore, the DLC, Clintons..are, and have been, republican lite. By design. By election plan.
