2 months later, I get the Traitor Cycles Press Release posted. Sorry about that Kevin. They’ve got a good scene happening up in the North West…
Traitor Cycles Launches Niche Steel Road Bike Brand
Ferndale, WA – August 13st 2008 – Traitor Cycles, based out of the Pacific Northwest has launched a complete line of bikes and components aimed at urban commuters, singlespeed enthusiasts and those that love steel road bikes. Traitor is launching with two frame models to start. A fixed gear specific frame called the Ringleader and a disc only cyclocross/commuting frame called the Ruben. There are two other frames currently in production that will be lugged. The Exile, a traditional lugged road frame and the Luggernaut, a do-it-all singlespeed available this September. In addition to frames, Traitor has launched a full line of components including wheelsets, stems, saddles, seatposts and handlebars that are designed to compliment the old school look and feel of steel road bikes. “We’re not into components with big flashy logos and laser etching. We wanted components that were simple and elegant that would look great on a wide variety of steel bikes. For the frames our goal was to create distinctive frames that have great attention to detail and touches you normally find on custom frames. The paint schemes are definitely a little bit of old school with our chrome forks and also some very non traditional styles that you normally don’t see in the road bike industry. Basically we are trying to bridge the gap between custom built bikes with one off paint jobs and some of the great no frills alternative steel bikes you see on the road”, says Kevin Menard, owner of Traitor Cycles.Traitor Cycles will be showing at the 2008 Interbike show in Las Vegas for the first time and is currently working on setting up their dealer network in the US and Canada.
