Wednesday is the fifth ring of hell.

I’ll lead out the gate with this one, because it’s about the coolest thing I’ve seen all day. And, I might tell you, I’ve seen a lot today already. Check it: bicyclepaintings.com. My favorite so far (and there is a whole lot to choose from) is Andy Hampsten’s Giro bike.

New movie coming out about steroids. It’s called Bigger Faster Stronger. Pretty sure I caught a glimpse of Floyd Landis in there somewhere. It just warms the heart.

In the same vein, this guys goes through course of steroids just because he can. “Did I take steroids to write a book, or did I write a book as an excuse to take steroids?” Good question. Tell me in five years.

In 16 weeks, Craig Davidson, a Canadian novelist, transformed himself into a hard-as-nails hunk by injecting illegal steroids. He loved his new body – but not the hideous side-effects. In this graphic account of being a ‘roider’, he recounts his hellish journey

Good times.

This one, you just gotta love:

As rising gas prices leave drivers with ever-heftier tabs at the pump, Americans have started looking for ways to reduce the drain on their budget. For some, transitioning away from a one-person, one-car lifestyle has proved rewarding.

…The Department of Transportation said Monday it had seen the sharpest monthly drop in driving since it began keeping records. In March, Americans drove 11 billion fewer miles than in March of 2007.

The guy is a war vet who lost his arm in a Helo crash while serving in Afghanistan. He’s on a break from Med School and going on tour this summer. If nothing else, shoot him a note and buy him a beer when he comes to your town.

If you read nothing else today, read this post on Daniel’s site: Prologue to the Book

Hi Big Jonny !
This is Pépin from the very far west of France (Britany – 2008 Tour de France 3 first stages region). I’m a real fan of DC.com, it keeps my oxford-based english up to date, and opens my french narrow Sarkozyan mind.
It would be an honor for me to see this picture in your fan pics section.
It was taken on a vetathlon race (running + MTB) in november 2007.

A plus.
Pépin.

About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. Funny thing is, wrecking an apache sounds just like any big wreck. The body dumps a phamacopia into you that is the equivelant of Keith Richards ’74, the mind seperates out from the body, and the memory goes from blank to every moment held in detail.
Just about everyone who reads DC & rides, and of course El Hombre his self, have had some spills that might have come out like that.
I just hope the guy gets something better than the VA once he gets past the big stuff.
Unsuprisingly, the VA is the very best at amputee’s and prosthetics, it’s everything else they got trouble with.
Oh yeah, and hearing loss, they are real good at that.

And no, I didn’t serve, I only worked at a couple.

  2. The article from the Canadian novelist is pure crap. I’ve known plenty of people who’ve taken a stack like his—-and what he says happened to him just doesn’t happen. Come on. This guy claimed EVERY possible negative side effect in one fairly minimal cycle? Gyno, prostatitis, hair loss, and the most ludicrous—-the beginning of acromegaly(his brow ridge). He’s lying, and trying simply to sell books.

People CAN have problems, no doubt. But this guy’s full of crap.
