File this under “you gotta be fucking kidding me”:

A speeding motorist who killed a teenage cyclist is suing the boy’s parents over damage to his luxury car, the government says.

Enaitz Iriondo, 17, died instantly in August 2004 when businessman Tomas Delgado’s Audi A8 crashed into him at 100 mph near Haro in northern Spain, an Interior Ministry traffic report said. The speed limit was 55 mph.

…Delgado, whose insurance company paid Iriondo’s parents $48,500 in compensation for their son’s life, filed a suit in late 2006 to recover $29,400 in damages to his car and car rental costs, the ministry traffic report said.

“It’s the only way I have to claim my money back,” Delgado was quoted as saying by the newspaper El Pais, which first reported the story on Friday. El Pais said a ruling was expected next week.

Iriondo’s parents were shocked.

“It’s the final straw, a stab in the back,” Iriondo’s mother, Rosa Trinidad said, according to El Pais. “Before the lawsuit we thought the poor guy would find it hard to live the rest of his life with the thought of having caused our son’s death. Read more: www.denverpost.com

Update: This guy is a world class douche.

I’m also a victim in all of this, you can’t fix the lad’s problems, but you can fix mine,” [Tomas] Delgado told the newspaper, ahead of a January 30 legal decision on his suit.

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. Someone please stab this motherfucker repeatedly. Better yet – find everything you can on his personal life and his business and destroy him bit by bit.

And then stab him. While his immediate family watches. While we’re at it, let’s compost his ass while he’s still breathing.

I hope Tomas Delgado knows to sleep with one eye open.

  2. …would that be “el douchebago” in spanish ???…

…if it sounds like i’m making a joke, it’s the only way i can deal w/ something this fucking deplorable…how truly amazing…

…this moron should be concerned for his life, never mind ‘worrying’ about what he’s gonna drive…

  3. I wouldn’t condone someone beating this cocksucker to death with a piece of lead pipe, but I’d sure understand it.

  4. this shitstain needs to be killed violently, brought back to life, & killed again; because killing him once just wouldn’t be enough.

  5. Hijo de la gran puta que folla a los cerdos, perros y ratones.

Not quite a literal translation of douchebag, but pretty much sums up Sr. Delgado.

Here’s the El Pais article on his suit:

    elpais.com/articulo/sociedad/…

“El demandante dice que no necesita el dinero, pero tampoco lo quiere perder ” (trans: The plaintiff says he doesn’t need the money, but neither does he want to lose it.)

  6. By the way, Delgado apparently had a blood alcohol level of 0.15 at the time of the accident:

“En el documental se puede ver al conductor explicar por qué presentaba una tasa de alcohol en sangre (0,15) cuando la Guardia Civil le realizó el correspondiente control tras el accidente: “Estaba nervioso y le dije a alguien que me trajera un whisky con coca cola”.”

He explains this as being because he was nervous and asked someone to bring him a whisky and cola.

  7. I’ve found that story on several sites and none mention that he was drunk or the part about not really needing the money.

Not pissing on your translation…..just curious why they skipped that part on translation.

Would seem to make a sidebar story in to top news.

Or is that the reason ??

Kennedy didn’t sue Mary Joe for getting his suit wet did he ??
