Pump up the volume (and the tires)

I can’t wait to see Bike Snob NYC tackle this one — a crew of teens in Queens riding two-wheeled sound systems.

Nick Ragbir’s DJ booth-slash-bicycle includes an amplifier, two 15-inch bass woofers and four midrange speakers; it plays music from his iPod and is powered by car batteries.

“It’s really big where I come from in Trinidad,” the 18-year-old told The New York Times. “When I first came to New York, I started with two little speakers. People here thought I was crazy because no one here has really ever seen it, except maybe for some Spanish dudes with a radio strapped to their handlebars.

“People say, ‘It’s the next best thing to having a system in a car.’ But it’s better because you don’t even have to roll down the windows.”
