Oh hell…

Former Cofidis rider Cristian Moreni has been banned for two years for a failed doping test during this year’s Tour de France, the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) announced on Thursday.

The 35-year-old former Italian champion tested positive for testosterone during the 11th stage of a drug-tainted 2007 Tour that saw pre-race favorite Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan also sent home in disgrace.

Moreni immediately acknowledged his guilt after testing positive without even requesting that his B sample be tested.

His actions resulted in his entire team withdrawing from the Tour. He was later fired by Cofidis.

He “immediately acknowledged his guilt” and still got the whole book thrown at him.

And they wonder why cyclists continue to lie. Telling the truth offers no advantage. Lying offers everything.

This system is fucked.

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
