A few thoughts on browser choices

Some of the information gathered for me by the various reporting tools I’m running server side is interesting. Most of it is extraneous bullshit that doesn’t make any difference to me one way or the other.

This I’d but under interesting.

IE 7.0           28.3 %
Firefox 2.0   25.6 %
IE 6.0           24.2 %
Safari           9.9 %
Firefox 1.5   2.2 %
Opera           1.4 %

What does this mean? IE 6 compliance issues are still a concern as 1 in 4 users are using that browser. And I hate IE 6 compliance issues.

Bottom line: This site is best viewed with Firefox. If you don’t already have it, think about downloading it.

About big jonny

The man, the legend. The guy who started it all back in the Year of Our Lord Beer, 2000, with a couple of pages worth of idiotic ranting hardcoded on some random porn site that would host anything you uploaded, a book called HTML for Dummies (which was completely appropriate), a bad attitude (which hasn’t much changed), and a Dell desktop running Win95 with 64 mgs of ram and a six gig hard drive. Those were the days. Then he went to law school. Go figure. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

  1. look at you gettin all up on yer jacked-up, badass, browser high-horse on us. all bow to the PC god amongst us.

we shall all make it so

  2. What’s up with you? For such a short “rant”, I can’t believe I found 3 typos…

    I know, I know. Get a life.

    Ride on.

  4. interesting numbers. i’m a web developer by trade and the startup i work for began with IE7 being a larger percentage of our viewers. as we grew IE6 has far outpaced IE7.

every site has a different market so maybe yours will continue to have IE7 and FF2 with stronger numbers than IE6. i could wish nothing better on a guy maintaining a site that i dig – so my fingers are crossed for you.

sadly i think most sites that get a lot of traffic tend toward browser percentages that reflect the total browser market share and, sadly, that still means IE6 is most prevelant.

like i said, i hope you can ignore IE6 because it is a real bitch…

p.s. where are the iPhone numbers ;-)

  5. Ya, sure, fine & dandy, Jonny! All this dirty kinda talk & now I really am starting to miss the porn!

  6. Firefox fucking rocks…

    why?

    built in fucking spell checker…

WP post, blog post, forum post, fucking dimwitted reply comment post?

Fuckin spell checked (see – red underline under fuckin… it wants me to change it to “Fuck in” or “Fucking”)

FireFox is the fucking bombadilla… add adblock, noScript and that damn spyware software ain’t finding shit on this puter…

  7. Firefox is ok but I think it’s market share is driven by Microsoft haters. I say why fight the machine? The only reason they don’t squash Firefox like a gnat (or buy it) is because they can’t legally dominate the market.

  8. firefox is just way better then mainstream shit..
i was an old nutscape fan

joe stuck at work on a nice sat.. last one tho- hehe
